Riparian Setback Determination Methodology, Surrey

Back to ProjectsBack to projects page

Lanarc (now HB Lanarc) led a multi-jurisdictional team to assist the City of Surrey in developing an approach to streamside protection that not only met the provincial Riparian Areas Regulation, but also addressed a wide range of other management concerns – floodplains, tree stand integrity, wildlife corridors, drainage and trail considerations to name a few. The project resulted in a method for integrating all these facets into one approach for defining riparian setbacks, and recommendations for incorporating it into Surrey's policy and regulatory framework.
